“THE TENTS” - A NYFW FILM

New York Fashion Week is in its fourth day and here is a little something to remind us where it all began. “The Tents” is an interesting documentary directed by James Belzer and Marcus Jones cataloguing the birth of Fashion Week and its expansion using intimatie interviews with industry leaders such as Tommy Hilfiger, Donna Karan, Betsey Johnson, Nina Garcia, Carolina Herrera, and more. R.I.P. WHITNEY HOUSTON

This afternoon we lost not only a legend, but one of the greatest voices of our time. At just 48 years-old, Whitney Houston has passed away. She was the first female artist to debut #1 on Billboard and has sold over 200 million albums worldwide. This is an extremely sad day for music. Gone, but never forgotten.

PRABAL GURUNG FALL/WINTER 2012.13

Prabal Prabal Prabal! This show was the talk of the town today (and for good reason)! Stars like Zoe Saldana, Coco Rocha, and Queen Wintour all popped up front row to support the fresh designer. The show started out very dark and gothic and slowly progressed into techno-print and eventually a beautiful gold rush. Tons of chic lace and feathers popped up in the beautifully crafted collection as well. Stunning! I wonder which Hollywood starlet will show up in one of these pieces first?

SUNO FALL/WINTER 2012.13

Once again we have another outstanding collection from SUNO - an emerging label by designers and CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists Erin Beatty and Max Osterweis. Beatty says she tries to salt in references to previous collections. The result was a fun infusion of patterns (from 2011) and kanga-style words (from 2010) with the new stuff: silhouetted prints of trees with animals under them (drawn by a 19-year-old intern who promptly skedaddled, Beatty says). Love!

JASON WU FALL/WINTER 2012.13

Y-E-S! Jason Wu put on quite a smokey spectacle today at the runway showcase of his latest Chinese military infused collection. The fabrications Wu used were luxurious and included silks, velvet’s and leathers. Wu stuck with classic, lady-like silhouettes in his mainly black, red, and gold collection and modernized them through intricate details (such as that amazing embroidery). A+! Definitely a favorite so far this NYFW!

Models.com “Committed” (FILM)

Too good! Right on time for NYFW, Models.com and Director Casey Brooks have rounded up a circle of today’s coolest models outfitted in clinical fashion and set them loose on set to create “Commited” - a high energy fashion video set to the sounds of Santigold.
