Best of Paris Fashion Week so far? We’re thinking YES! Nicola Formichetti pulled out all of the stops this Fall season for Thierry Mugler. Sticking with the brands glam 80s vibe, we see a slew of big white furs, wide shoulders (to compliment the modern power woman), sleek and interesting cuts, splashes of color, and even some intense prints. When it comes to craftsmanship and conceptual fantasy design, Mugler is one of the best. Love!

In his quest for MUGLER to be ‘Fashion Without Frontiers’, Nicola Formichetti, in collaboration with Mugler’s head menswear designer, Romain Kremer, created a collection that expands the idea of male heroes and clothing archetypes through cut, fabric and silhouette.

The music for the presentation is a new track and vocal by the lovely Azealia Banks, specially commissioned by Nicola Formichetti for the show. The film footage (above) was captured during a 4 day, 24/7 live broadcast from the MUGLER atelier leading up to and after the show.

LADY GAGA’S MUGLER S/S 2012 FASHION FILM

A never-before-heard remix of Lady GaGa’s song “Black Jesus Amen Fashion” has been debuted during Nicola Formichetti’s Spring 2012 Mugler show recently. Gaga didn’t make it on the runway for this year’s show in Paris, but she was still present in the video which was featured before the models hit the catwalk. Complete with sparkling buck teeth, pigtails, and strangely amusing threats, Gaga  new promo video is amazing!

The opening look for Thierry Mugler Spring/Summer 2012 set the tone for a slick modernist look by Formichetti anchored on strong shoulders and sexy cut-out details. Those needle-thin heels are out of this world! The overall Spring 2012 collection is a bit more tame in comparison to last season’s fiasco. It’s not overbearingly sexy and the fit on the pants are great. Very interesting. What are YOUR thoughts on Nicola Formichetti and Mugler’s latest work?

NICOLA FORMICHETTI’S NEW ONLINE SHOP

After the temporary New York City pop-up store, Nicola Formichetti’s opens an online shop. Nicola Formichetti will open an online pop-up selling some of the exclusive items that were before only available at the retail destination. Having teamed up with BOFFO and Gage/Clemenceau Architects for the retail pop-up, the store carries vintage Versace, of course Mugler goods, and also a series of Nicopanda product, including t-shirts and iPad and iPhone cases. 

Having had the honor to actually visit the store and see what’s inside, I can assure you to get out your cards and be prepared to spend when you click that link! The online store will launch along with the Mugler Women’s fashion show on September 28th, 2011, at 9pm GMT.
