VINTAGE NICKI MINAJ FREESTYLE
What a friendly reminder of exactly why Nicki Minaj sits proudly on her throne. Today a new video surfaced of Minaj circa 2006/7 of her strolling down the streets of Southside Jamaica Queens freestyling her butt off. Who do you prefer? Hood Nicki or Barbie Nicki?

Lana Del Rey | Video Games
Ok, it’s official. We’re in love! Lana Del Rey grew up in Lake Placid on the outer edges of New York State. At 18, she fulfilled her lifelong ambition of decamping to New York City. ‘Since I was little I knew I would end up there,’ she says, ‘Every day is a pleasure there. Every single day I walk out of the door is a good day. I like everything about it. New York totally rewards me for my love of it.’ Lana’s songs came out of a mixture of her love of David Lynch, Black and White 50’s movies, Coney Island, Hip-Hop and heartbreak. Describing herself as the “gangsta Nancy Sinatra” and her music as Hollywood Sadcore, Lana’s self made videos for the tracks have already caused a major stir on YouTube. In October, she will officially release this as a single.. but until then, check out Lana’s D.I.Y. video for Video Games above!

Rejoice! New York voted Friday night to allow same-sex marriage, becoming the most diverse and populated state to pass legislation that gay advocates hope will jump-start a nationwide movement that has stalled in recent years. This has been a long time coming and it is only a matter of time until the rest of the states and countries tag along. It’s no secret that we here at WeTheUrban are strong advocates for not only the LGBT community, but everyone of any orientation, nationality, and the like. This is great progress! Now go out and celebrate!
