XÉNIA LAFFELY’S GRADUATE 2012 COLLECTION

Recent graduate, Xénia Laffely, recently unveiled her highly colorful and quite conceptual 2012 men’s collection titled “Bearded Faces”. Laffely toys with mixed media design references and wild illustration to appropriately accompany her cutting edge garments. Laffely says on the collection:

"Bearded faces. The father in classic suits and the religious man in ceremonial dress. They have haunted me through the process of this collection. I borrowed some attributes of each one, to build on their ashes a third figure ; my own icon, the unworthy son, rebellious, flamboyant. The witness of my emancipation.

I designed him a new skin, the beards have become prints, interspersed with embroidery of orthodox cassocks and woolen masculine suits. Then cut along the lines of classical suits. And I colored the scarves, leggings and jackets with Stabilo, to bring him to life. A graphic and sentimental character, wacky and unpredictable appeared.”

JOSH GOOD SPRING/SUMMER 2012

Josh Goot’s SS12 collection is a powerful testament to the designer’s signature mass print and structured silhouettes. While the look may be unapologetic and 100% Goot (which, to us, is pretty heart-attack worthy), there’s definitely still a freshness of outlook here that proves there’s plenty of vision left in the noggin of this fashion visionary. Yum!

A.P.C. x VANESSA SEWARD COLLECTION

Yum-my! French label A.P.C. have collaborated with the former Creative Director at Azzaro, Vanessa Seward, to produce a capsule collection that includes an array of printed dresses and blouses with white cuffs and collars, a metallic dress and subtly patterned shorts.

A release says, “If A.P.C. is by their own admission “a little frigid,” the collaboration with Vanessa Seward draws the A.P.C. girl out and introduces her to a new, quiet kind of glamour.”

NATALIA GRZYBOWSKI’S S/S 2012 “HYBRID” COLLECTION

Natalia Grzybowski‘s latest conceptual Spring/Summer 2012 collection is being described as “part-human, part-botanic” and we can definitely see why. Not since we first saw Mary Katrantzou have we been this moved by an entire collection of clothing. The engineered prints, sculptural silk and quirky feminine designs are opulent and completely wearable (for the standard risk taking fashionista, of course!)

“Each piece is an art form within itself, complementing, without overtly sexualising the female form, using shapes that are simultaneously structured, yet soft, mimicking the form of a flower.” What’s your favorite piece of the collection?
