#DESIGN: KARL LAGERFELD’S PARISIAN APARTMENT

Karl Lagerfeld recently granted Architectural Digest access to his stunning modern Parisian apartment, resulting in this series of images.

The abode is situated along the Left Bank in an 1820′s building that underwent a hefty renovation to appear as it does now – an airy mix of glass and metal and natural and electric light. It seems the perfect match for its owner’s taste and personality. Closer look after the jump:

CHANEL’S MINIATURE HULA-HOOP BAG

When Karl Lagerfeld unveiled a giant hula-hoop bag on the Chanel runway this year, many were left a bit baffled about who would actually buy this gigantic accessory apparently designed for use on the beach.

Turns out that the bag was designed to capture the media’s attention more than anything else, and a miniature version will actually be on sale to through the Chanel shops. Measuring 24 cm in diameter, the mini bag will be available from Spring 2013.

#PFW: CHANEL SPRING/SUMMER 2013

Leave it to Karl Lagerfeld to give us the most innovative and creative presentation of every show this season. For Chanel Spring/Summer 2013, models strut their stuff down a runway made of solar panels between thirteen full sized wind turbines. The designer’s explanation was whimsical in the extreme: “I started sketching in Central Park, and it was so hot that I wanted fresh air,”

The collection featured a series of strapless white column dresses with intricate embroidery in floral patterns, shorts in sportswear mesh fabric, and rainbow jackets. The famous 2.55 handbag was also reconstructed into a half moon in-between two enormous hula hoops (one of our favorite pieces). An overall beautiful show with beautiful pieces.

CHANEL SPRING/SUMMER 2013 RESORT COLLECTION

Karl Lagerfeld presented the 2013 Chanel resort collection at Versailles today - taking inspiration from the paintings of Antoine Watteau, he created a quality collection that could we’d like to describe as Marie Antoinette meets rocker chick meets a pastel painted pallet.

Uncle Karl brought a lot of crazy to the looks this time around, but we actually LOVE quite a few of the classic pieces (when you mentally break them down); the florals and rococo silhouettes, the colors. Though it’s a little out there for Chanel’s taste, we really dig this 18th century France meets 2013 vibe. Check out footage of the full show (above)!
