UNIQLO SPRING/SUMMER 2013 LOOKBOOK

If you aren’t in the know, Japanese retailer Uniqlo, is slowly becoming a go-to destination stateside (especially after recently opening a series of massive stores) for the hip and stylish.

For the next spring season, Uniqlo offers a good quality mix of casual everyday wear, which can be worn by anyone no matter if you’re 15 or 30 years old. The brands offerings also stray towards preppy florals and forgiving silhouettes –including gingham tops, great summer dresses, beachy pants and a few other fun finds.

UNDERCOVER FOR UNIQLO’S FALL/WINTER ‘12 “UU” FINAL CAMPAIGN

Designer Jun Takahashi was able to bring his UNDERCOVER brand to a much lower pricepoint by collaborating with massive retailer Uniqlo, so it only makes sense that they would do one more collection!

Drawing on Takahashi’s post-modern UNDERCOVER design tendencies, this Uniqlo collaboration (featuring insane images of giant insects playing instruments) will feature a full range of contemporary garments utilizing and mixing top-notch Uniqlo performance technology and fabrics; the pieces will feature Heat Tech and Ultra Light Down, among other signature Uniqlo innovations. We’re into it!

FIRST LOOK: UNIQLO’S NEW FLAGSHIP STORE

I walked by this almost everyday while in NYC and was bummed that it wasn’t open in time for NYFW S/S 2012! The Japanese apparel retailer this week is opening a three-story, 89,000-square-foot flagship store on the corner of 5th Avenue and 53rd St. in Manhattan. The chain, which opened its first U.S. store in lower Manhattan in 2006, last year signed a $300 million, 15-year lease for the space, formerly the location of a Brooks Brothers store. It was reported to be the most expensive retail lease in New York’s history. Could UNIQLO become the next great American retailer? See those $9.90 jeans?! With prices like those, I sure hope so!
